I trained as a ‘Joker’ (workshop facilitator) with the prestigious Theatr Fforwm Cymru (ThFfC), based in Pembrokeshire, 10 years ago and I’ve facilitated theatre workshops ever since.
My career in healthcare began with Morecambe Bay Primary Care NHS Trust. I was part of the Behaviour Intervention Team which worked with learning disabled people have ‘Challenging Behaviour’. I also facilitated theatre workshops for staff and clients within the NHS. In 2004 I was seconded to work as a forum theatre facilitator for the Partnership Board (Preston). After this I worked for the NHS Forensic Service, continuing to run theatre workshops for the NHS; for student nurses (learning disability) at the University of Cumbria and on a freelance basis. The University continues to be a valuable client. In 2006 the Cumbria Training Partnership asked me to facilitate an intensive 40 week course, four days a week, for people with learning difficulties from across the whole of Cumbria. This was successfully completed in November 2007. Right now I’m working with Box of Frogs and Forty Second Street, Manchester, on a three year project called The Imagination Bubble for young disabled people in Manchester and Salford as well as for Craegmoor Healthcare. At Theatre Forum Workshops participants can be confident that they will be treated professionally and with empathy and in an atmosphere where creativity and humour prevail. |

| “Ed, I just wanted to thank you for the fantastic work you did for our young people. They thoroughly enjoyed it. The presentation and the format were pitched just right for the individuals in the group and I think they all benefited in different ways. The young people still talk about the different aspects of what they gained from the workshops.” Tom Harrison, Project Manager, Brunshaw Gateway Award, United Youth |
